The KISEAS recruits and trains a number of M.A. and Ph.D. students as the junior research associates, regardless of their university majors. The junior associates join various research projects and hold monthly seminars, in which they present their research interests and seek for advices from the senior members.

The KISEAS conducts course opening activities upon realizing that the lack of Southeast Asian Study-related courses is the main reason for the short of understanding and research resources in Korea. The main targets are the universities in the capital region. The KISEAS analyzes the current status of Southeast Asian Study courses, and develops sample syllabus and textbooks for such courses as <Southeast Asian Politics>, <Southeast Asian Economy>, <Southeast Asian Society and Culture>, <Southeast Asian History>, and <Understanding Southeast Asia> etc.

The KISEAS conducts education programs for corporations, media, and government offices, which often dispatch personnel to Southeast Asian countries. The education program is focused on obtaining necessary knowledge about the region and helping them understand the region as well.
